CHICIRIS - timing chain tensioner cover for K20/K24 engines

The timing chain tensioner cover is a part of the timing housing that closes and seals the chain tensioner chamber on the front of the engine. The aluminum alloy plate is a direct replacement for popular Honda K-series engines - K20, K20A, K24 and K24A, fitted among others in the Civic, Accord, CR-V and Integra models with these engines.

Use

The part is installed in place of the original timing chain tensioner housing, with no need to modify the engine block. The aluminum construction provides good corrosion resistance while keeping weight low, and a special sealing groove on the back of the plate makes it easier to achieve a tight seal and saves time when replacing or inspecting the tensioner.

When to replace the cover

A leaking or deformed timing chain tensioner cover is a common cause of oil leaks from the front of the engine and incorrect timing chain tension, which results in noisy engine operation and incorrect cam timing. Replacing the worn housing with a new one, together with the fastening bolts, restores proper sealing of the system and makes further tensioner servicing easier.
