The Crucial T700 is Crucial's first Gen5 drive and still a very fast choice for a new computer. Thanks to PCIe 5.0 x4, copying large files, installing games and working on video projects take a fraction of the time familiar from SATA drives. The 1 TB capacity holds the system, programs and a dozen or so games. The manufacturer's part number is CT1000T700SSD3.

Speed

According to the manufacturer, the 1 TB version reaches up to 11,700 MB/s sequential read and up to 9,500 MB/s sequential write. The drive will also work in a PCIe 4.0 or 3.0 slot, in which case the speed is limited by the slot.

For gaming and creative work

The T700 performs well in gaming computers on platforms with an M.2 Gen5 slot and in editing and graphics workstations. It supports Microsoft DirectStorage. It will also work in a PCIe 4.0 slot, in which case the speed is limited by the slot.

Installation and cooling

Version without a heatsink – for installation under the motherboard's M.2 heatsink. With Gen5 drives, good cooling is necessary to maintain full speed.
