Thanks to Realtek RTL8186 chips, it is possible to upload custom firmware using the supplied software development kit (SDK). Developers can use 4 MB of Flash memory and 16 MB of SDRAM to create advanced features, which gives unlimited possibilities for extending the device.

Network and data security is a priority.
The DAP-1160 Access Point offers 64- or 128-bit WEP encryption and WPA/WPA2 mechanisms. It also provides MAC address filtering and SSID hiding, which further protects the network against unauthorized access.
