Das Boot (1981) Director's Cut DVD, German edition

DVD movie "Das Boot: 1981 Director's Cut, DE"

Travel back to World War II in 1941, following the fate of the crew of the German U-boat U-96 under the command of "the Old Man" (Der Alte). Their task is to patrol the Atlantic Ocean, and on board is also war correspondent Lieutenant Werner, ready to describe the heroism of the sailors of the Third Reich.

Although the crew show heroism in the face of danger, they distance themselves from totalitarian ideologies, listening to English songs and mocking German leaders. Even the captain supports such behavior, accepting it among his men. The opening scenes show a moment of relaxation, when the sailors can allow themselves a moment of respite before a long mission. Despite the three-year war and a shortage of experienced sailors, the captain looks with distrust at the young men who still believe in Nazi ideology.
