A drive shaft transfers torque from the gearbox to the rear axle or between the axles in rear-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive cars. In this category you will find complete drive shafts and their parts: universal joints, supports, support bearings and mounting elements.

Damage to the shaft can show up as vibration felt at certain speeds, knocking when pulling away or changing direction, and a droning noise coming from under the floor. The cause is often a worn support bearing or universal joint, which can be replaced without buying the whole shaft.

The shaft is selected for the specific model, drive version, gearbox and length, preferably on the basis of the catalog number. After fitting, the shaft should be correctly balanced, so for regeneration or replacement it is worth using a workshop that has the right equipment. When regenerating a shaft, it is worth checking the condition of the mounts and rubber damping elements, which also wear out over time.
