Fyearfly – stone carving knife set

This is a set of tools for hand carving and engraving stone, intended for hobbyists and people learning sculpture. The set contains 14 knives with various blade shapes and widths, a clamp vise with interchangeable heads, beeswax, a cleaning tool and a fabric storage bag.

Build

The knife heads are made of manganese steel, which stands up well to wear. The shanks are protected against corrosion, and the handles are wrapped in brown thread, so the tool sits securely in the hand. The whole set weighs about 600 g.

Blade types

• flat knives with widths of 3.5; 4.5; 5.5; 6.5 and 8.5 mm,
• angled knives 3.5 and 4.5 mm,
• round-tipped knife 4 mm,
• small flat knives 4.5 and 5.5 mm,
• push knife and pull knife 4 mm.

The varied profiles let you make straight lines, bevels, curves and fine details when working on seals, bas-reliefs and small forms in soft stone.
