Garmin Varia RTL516 - bicycle rear radar with light

Garmin Varia RTL516 - bicycle rear radar with light

The Varia RTL516 combines a rear bike light with a radar that detects vehicles approaching from behind. It warns you of them with sound and visual alerts on a compatible bike computer, wearable device or in the app, detecting vehicles from up to 140 meters away.

Visibility and light

The built-in rear light with up to 65 lumens increases the cyclist's visibility from a long distance, and its brightness automatically adjusts to the traffic situation detected by the radar.

Connectivity and compatibility

The device connects wirelessly to Edge bike computers, compatible Garmin wearables and smartphones. Varia alerts can also be integrated with navigation apps such as Ride with GPS. The radar can also be used with just a smartphone and the Varia app, without any additional Garmin device.

Mounting and battery

The radar mounts without tools on a round, D-shape or aero seatpost. The housing is waterproof to IPX7, and battery life reaches up to 9 hours on a single charge via the USB port.
