Garmin VHF 215 – marine radiotelephone with DSC and GPS

The VHF 215 is a fixed marine radio with 25 W transmit power, intended for permanent mounting on a boat or yacht. The device has a built-in GPS receiver, so it automatically passes the vessel's position in digital calling messages.

Digital DSC calling

The radio supports the standard Class D DSC function, that is, digital selective calling that allows an immediate distress signal or a direct call to another vessel by MMSI number. The detachable handheld microphone can be kept away from the radio itself, which makes operation from the helm easier.

Integration with onboard electronics

The VHF 215 connects to compatible Garmin chartplotters and multifunction displays over an NMEA 2000 network, and handles older devices thanks to the NMEA 0183 protocol. The radio also works with the wireless second station GHS 11, which can be placed in another spot on the boat, for example on the flybridge.

Build

The housing is waterproof, which matters when mounting in an open helm exposed to waves and rain. The set includes a microphone and a second-station handset.
