Books for learning German

In this category you will find materials for learning German at every level, from A1 to C2: textbooks with exercises, grammar reviews, dictionaries, phrasebooks, thematic vocabulary collections, and books preparing for certificate exams and the final exam.

The most important thing is to match the materials to your level and learning goal. Beginners need a course with recordings and explanations in Polish, people going abroad for work need professional vocabulary and phrasebooks, and exam candidates need tests in the format of a specific certificate.

Check whether the book comes with audio recordings or access to online materials, because getting used to hearing the language is key. Books with bilingual texts and simplified readers help develop reading skills. It is also worth paying attention to how up to date the edition is. Flashcards and thematic courses, e.g. German at work or when traveling, help you quickly master the most needed vocabulary and phrases.
