The K & N 69-0500TWR Typhoon cold air intake system is a free-flowing, flexible-mandrel aluminum air induction system designed to fit certain Alfa Romeo 147 models. The restrictive factory air filter and air intake housing have been replaced by the K & N Typhoon cold air intake, which is designed to draw in outside air and dramatically reduces airflow restriction by smoothing and straightening the airflow.

This allows the engine to breathe in more air than the factory intake. More air means more usable power and acceleration across the whole rev range. The intake tubes have an attractive textured red powder coat, which is durable. The cold air intake system accommodates the factory mass air flow sensor and breather hose. This air intake system can be configured as a cold air intake, where the air filter is placed near the wheel, or as a short ram intake, when the filter is placed in the engine bay.

The oversized cone-shaped air filter is equipped with a hydrophobic DryCharger filter coating that protects the filter from moisture. The air filter can be used for up to 100,000 miles before servicing is required, depending on driving conditions. Some Typhoon air intakes are not legal for sale or use in California and other states adopting California emissions standards, while others are CARB exempt and 50-state legal.
