The MPLAB® PICkit™ 4 in-circuit debugger programmer allows quick and easy debugging and programming of PIC and dsPIC microcontrollers, using the powerful graphical user interface of the MPLAB X IDE, version 4.15. The MPLAB PICkit 4 is connected to the designer's computer via a USB 2.0 interface, and can be connected to the target device via an 8-pin Single-In-Line (SIL) connector. The connector uses two I/O pins of the chip and a reset line to implement in-circuit debugging and ICSP programming. An additional micro SD card slot, together with the option of self-powering from the target device, means you can take the code and program it "on the go". The MPLAB PICkit 4 programs faster than its predecessor and is ready to support PIC® and dsPIC® MCUs. With a wider target voltage range, the PICkit 4 supports advanced interfaces such as 4-Wire JTAG and Serial Wire Debug (SWD), with backward compatibility for demo boards, header connectors and target systems using JTAG and 2-Wire ICSP. The PICkit 4 also has a unique programmer-to-go function with a micro SD card slot for storing the project code and the ability to be powered through the target board.
