Nobsound Douk Audio U3 - desktop class A headphone amplifier

Nobsound Douk Audio U3 - class A headphone amplifier

The Douk Audio U3 is a small desktop headphone amplifier operating in class A, intended for audio systems on a desk or in a home hi-fi setup. The wide supply voltage from 5 to 20 V lets the circuit work at a high internal voltage, which results in a low background noise level and clean sound.

Socketed operational amplifier

The device uses an NE5532 operational amplifier mounted in a plug-in socket, so audio enthusiasts can swap it for other op-amp modules and adjust the character of the sound to their own preferences. Class A operation and a high output current transistor give a warm, full and soft sound with very low distortion.

For demanding headphones

Thanks to its solid drive power, the amplifier copes with most high-impedance headphones available on the market, improving the soundstage and listening detail. It works for classical and vocal music as well as for more dynamic genres.

Application

It is a compact addition to a home or office audio system - just connect a sound source and headphones to get noticeably better sound than from a computer's or player's headphone output.
