Rollei Astroklar – rectangular light pollution reduction filter

A photographic filter intended for people photographing the night sky, stars and the Milky Way near cities, where artificial lighting makes it hard to get a clean, high-contrast image of the sky. It also works for night architectural and urban photography.

How the filter works

The filter's special coating largely eliminates the yellow and orange bands of light responsible for the typical glow over cities (light pollution). As a result, night sky photos gain noticeably better contrast and color purity, and delicate structures in the frame, such as architectural details, remain legible.

Build

The filter is made of high-quality optical glass with a double-sided nano coating that reduces light reflections. The design is resistant to water, oil and dirt, which makes it easier to keep the filter clean during outdoor night shoots.

This is a rectangular filter 100 mm wide, intended for holder-mounted filter systems popular among landscape photographers and astrophotographers working with DSLR and mirrorless cameras.
