The lens is part of the CONTEMPORARY product line. The new design offers improved image quality and a more durable TSC composite housing.
The F1.4 aperture allows creative use of depth of field and makes shooting in very difficult lighting conditions easier. Working in this aperture range lets you create professional portrait and nature shots, and it works excellently for filming. Remember the nine-blade circular aperture, which guarantees pleasing blur of out-of-focus areas of the photo (very pleasant bokeh).

On the Sony E system, the lens's angle of view corresponds to a 45mm focal length (35mm camera).

This lens combines a compact and mobile design with excellent optical performance, which delivers image quality from the professional ART line. The lens construction consists of 9 elements in 7 groups, including one aspherical lens and one double aspherical lens, as well as high-dispersion glass elements, so the lens provides an excellent level of light at the edges of the image while minimizing lateral chromatic aberration. Anti-reflective coatings reduce reflections and flare, providing sharp and contrasty images even at maximum aperture.

The 9-blade circular aperture with a minimum value of F1.4 enables natural blur of out-of-focus areas of the photo and provides a pleasing rendering of the image.

The newly developed motor - a linear AF - provides precise and quiet autofocus. Thanks to it, the lens works great for shooting dynamic scenes as well as when filming.

Precise, durable brass bayonet mount - combines high build quality with durability. Its surface undergoes a special strengthening treatment to ensure high lens quality, guaranteeing long-lasting use.

All enclosed in a new durable and tasteful housing compliant with the advanced standard of the Global Vision line. Components made of thermally stable TSC composite ensure durability and reliability in use.

TSC (Thermally Stable Composite) has thermal shrinkage similar to aluminum. Parts made of this material deform less, allowing high manufacturing precision. Compared to polycarbonate with 20% glass content, TSC is 70% more elastic. Compared to polycarbonate with 30% glass content, TSC is 25% more elastic.
