Speed sensors pass information about the vehicle speed or the rotation of drivetrain components to the control units. In this category you will find vehicle speed sensors mounted at the gearbox, shaft rotational speed sensors, and sensors used in electronic systems.

A faulty sensor may show up as a non-working speedometer, problems changing gears in automatic transmissions, the engine warning light coming on or incorrect cruise control operation. Before replacement, it is worth reading the error codes using computer diagnostics.

Sensors differ in type (inductive, Hall effect), cable length, plug shape and mounting method. Therefore, when choosing, go by the catalog number and the data of the specific vehicle: make, model, year of production and engine or gearbox code. During installation, keep the socket clean and make sure the sensor is seated properly, and protect the plug from moisture. After replacement, clear the stored errors and check the operation of the speedometer and driver assistance systems during a test drive.
