toptrek Ahead Bicycle Stem 31.8 mm 35 mm – Aluminum Handlebar Stem

toptrek Ahead Bicycle Stem 31.8 mm

The stem is the part that connects the fork (steerer tube) to the bicycle handlebar. The toptrek model is designed for the popular handlebar standard with a 31.8 mm diameter and fits Ahead-type headsets with a 28.6 mm steerer tube, commonly used on mountain bikes (MTB) and BMX bikes.

Construction

The stem is made of aluminum alloy, which provides low weight while keeping adequate stiffness and strength for typical off-road and city riding loads. The rise angle is 7 degrees, and the manufacturer offers several lengths – 35, 45, 60 and 70 mm – so you can choose a reach that suits your own build and riding style. A shorter stem gives a more upright, controlled position, while a longer one extends the reach to the handlebar.

Installation

The set includes two Allen keys (4 and 5 mm) needed to remove the old stem and install the new one. Installation involves undoing the screws holding the handlebar and steerer tube, sliding the stem onto the fork tube and tightening it in the chosen position, then mounting the handlebar back.

Uses

The product works as a replacement for a damaged stem or as a way to change the geometry of a mountain, cross or BMX bike without replacing the entire fork.
