ayex – 950 nm infrared filter, 77 mm

A filter for advanced infrared photography that blocks almost the entire visible spectrum and lets through only deep infrared radiation. It is a solution for photographers experimenting with artistic, black-and-white shots of very strong contrast.

Photographic effect

Thanks to the 950 nm wavelength, the filter gives exceptionally strong contrast – a deep black sky and clearly highlighted bright structures, for example leaves or clouds. The effect is more radical than with the more popular 720 nm or 850 nm filters.

Construction

The filter is set in a durable metal mount that provides a secure fit on the lens and uniform performance across the whole glass surface. The internal and external thread also allows combining it with other filters or lens hoods.

Practical tips

Because of the very strong darkening, photos require long exposure times, so working with a stable tripod is recommended. The filter works particularly well with cameras adapted for infrared photography (converted), while with standard cameras it requires a longer exposure.
