K&F Concept – variable ND2-ND400 filter

A neutral density filter with adjustable strength that lets you smoothly reduce the amount of light entering the lens by 1 to 9 stops. In practice, one filter replaces several separate fixed-strength ND filters.

Use

The filter works well for long exposure and motion blur techniques – for example, it lets you photograph a waterfall with a silky water effect or get a shallow depth of field in bright daylight. It is a popular tool in landscape and nature photography.

Build quality

The filter glass is made of high-quality Japanese AGC glass, which provides good sharpness, vivid colors and high contrast. The slim, 7.4 mm trapezoid-profile frame makes mounting and removing the filter easier and reduces the risk of vignetting.

What to watch for

The filter is not recommended for use with wide-angle lenses with a focal length below 35 mm without an additional lens hood, because at extreme settings a cross-shaped banding effect (X-pattern) may appear.
