BGS 8745 – crankshaft locking tool for BMW M52TU, M54, M56

A specialist crankshaft locking tool for BMW inline six-cylinder engines. It is used to immobilize the hub and pulley of the shaft while loosening and tightening the central bolt, which in these units is tightened to a very high torque.

Applications

• BMW M52TU engines,
• BMW M54 engines,
• BMW M56 engines.

In these cars (including BMW E39, E46, E60, E83, X5 E53) the shaft bolt must be removed when replacing the front crankshaft seal, the torsional vibration damper, the oil pump or timing drive components. Without the lock the shaft turns together with the wrench, and attempts to block it with a screwdriver end in damage to the pulley.

Construction

The BGS 8745 tool is made of alloy steel. It works with a 1/2 inch (12.5 mm) ratchet or breaker bar and lets you safely transfer high torque without risk of damage.
