Audio-Technica AT875R – shotgun camera microphone, black

Audio-Technica AT875R – shotgun camera microphone

The AT875R is a small shotgun condenser microphone designed for video production and field sound recording (ENG/EFP). The short housing, less than 175 mm long, makes the microphone fit well with compact cameras and DSLRs.

Directional characteristic

The narrow acceptance angle lets it capture the source in front of the microphone while effectively rejecting sounds coming from the sides and from behind. As a result, recordings are cleaner even in surroundings with additional noise sources.

Power

The microphone requires phantom power, available in most audio mixers, sound recorders and some video cameras with an XLR input.

Applications

It works well for recording interviews, reports and documentaries, and as a companion microphone during film productions, where small size and a predictable directional pattern matter. Thanks to its compact dimensions it also works well as an addition to a recording kit when working in the field, where every gram of equipment counts.
