Construction and material

The chainring is made of aluminum alloy, so it stays light while keeping adequate stiffness. The teeth have an alternating narrow-wide design matched to a standard bicycle chain – the thick teeth are wider and fit into the wider chain links, while the thin teeth are narrower and fit the narrower links. This tooth layout reduces the risk of dropping the chain when riding on rough terrain, without the need for additional chain guides.

Use and installation

The chainring is compatible with most cranks with a 104 mm bolt circle, common in Shimano crank sets among others. Before buying, it is worth checking the bolt circle of your own crank and the tooth count of the chainring currently installed, so you pick the right replacement. Installation comes down to unscrewing the old chainring and bolting on the new one with the same crank bolts.
