The expansion valve is a small but key component of a car's air conditioning system. It meters refrigerant into the evaporator, so the system cools evenly and does not overheat. This thermal-type expansion valve is intended for universal use and has a brass construction.

Why the expansion valve matters

When the expansion valve works incorrectly, the air conditioning cools poorly, the compressor runs unevenly, and frost may appear on the evaporator. Replacing a worn part with a new one often restores proper operation of the system.
