Yamaha YRS-24B – soprano recorder, Baroque system, ivory

Yamaha YRS-24B – soprano recorder

The Yamaha YRS-24B soprano recorder is a classic woodwind instrument that has been chosen for years for learning to play the recorder in schools and at home. It is built in the key of C and has Baroque fingering, so it suits both music lessons and solo practice.

Construction and workmanship

The body is made of ABS resin in a light ivory colour. The material is moisture resistant and easy to keep clean, and the recorder is made in three parts, so it can be conveniently stored and washed. The instrument weighs about 95 grams and is 36 cm long.

Who it is for

This is a classic Baroque recorder, that is the kind on which most beginner recorder players learn. Many textbooks and school music sets assume exactly this fingering, so it is easy to find learning materials.

The recorder is well suited to children and adult beginners and as a school instrument. A soprano recorder in C has a bright, clear sound and it is easy to produce a note on it.
