Aluminum TO-220 heat sinks – 10 pieces

Small aluminum alloy heat sinks designed for cooling components in a TO-220 package, such as MOSFET transistors, diodes and voltage regulators like the 7805 and 7812. Aluminum is lightweight and dissipates heat quickly, which helps keep the component at a safe operating temperature.

Uses

The heat sinks work well in power supplies, audio amplifiers and other electronic devices where power components get hot. They are screwed to the component with an M3 screw, preferably using thermal paste or an insulating pad.

Note: the heat sink is small, so before buying check whether it is sufficient for the power dissipated in your circuit. For larger loads choose a larger model.

For higher-power components an aluminum heat sink with a larger surface area or forced cooling is usually used, while these small models are enough for moderate losses, e.g. in linear regulators. The lightweight design does not strain the component leads.
