Garmin SteadyCast – 3-axis heading sensor for boats
SteadyCast is a 3-axis heading sensor (electronic compass) designed for boats, which gives the chartplotter the true direction of the vessel's bow, regardless of drift or deviation from course caused by waves and wind. As a result, the heading arrow and map orientation on the display match where the boat is actually heading, not just which way the hull is pointing.
Accuracy even in difficult conditions
The sensor updates heading data at 10 Hz with a stated accuracy of +/- 3 degrees. It maintains a stable heading reading also at slow speed, in rough seas and when the boat is stationary, which is useful for trolling and slow maneuvering in the harbor, among other things, when a classic magnetic compass can be unreliable.
Installation
- Simple installation and quick calibration with no additional settings
- Mounts near the boat's steering wheel
- Works with a compatible Garmin chartplotter
