Sony FE 12-24 mm F4 G SEL1224G – ultra-wide full-frame zoom

Sony FE 12-24 mm F4 G (SEL1224G)

Very wide angle in a compact body

The SEL1224G is an ultra-wide zoom for full-frame cameras with the Sony E mount. The 12 mm focal length gives an exceptionally wide view, useful for photographing architecture, interiors, landscapes and tight spaces. The constant F4 aperture across the whole range makes it easier to work at constant exposure, e.g. when filming.

Optical construction

• four aspherical elements limiting the distortion typical of wide angles
• one Super ED element and three ED glass elements reducing chromatic aberration
• short barrel and a relatively small front element
• AF/MF switch and a configurable focus hold button
• fixed lens hood

Who it is for

This is an ultra-wide full-frame zoom for people who want a light lens for travel and landscape photography. A weight of about 565 g means the lens does not weigh down a bag much. Because of the bulging front element, ordinary filters cannot be screwed on.
