Yamaha GL1 Guitalele - hybrid guitar, small guitar with 6 nylon

Yamaha GL1 Guitalele - hybrid guitar

The Yamaha GL1 is a hybrid instrument combining features of a classical guitar and a ukulele - a compact six-string guitar just 70 cm long, tuned a fourth higher than a regular guitar (A-D-G-C-E-A). This gives a full, guitar-like sound in a small, handy form.

Construction and sound

The top is made of spruce, and the back and sides of meranti wood, which gives a balanced tone with a clear response on both low and high strings. The neck and fingerboard are made of rosewood. Soft nylon strings make it easy to play for people of any age and skill level.

Comfort and portability

Small dimensions (71 x 23 x 8 cm) and a weight of about 1.2 kg make the instrument great for travel, music classes or as a child's first guitar. A matching soft Yamaha bag is included for carrying and protecting the instrument.

Who it is for

The Yamaha GL1 Guitalele is a good choice both for beginners looking for an easy-to-play string instrument and for experienced guitarists who want a compact instrument for practising on the go.
