ECOWITT WH51 wireless soil moisture sensor

ECOWITT WH51 - wireless soil moisture sensor

The ECOWITT WH51 sensor is a device for continuously monitoring soil moisture in pots, flower beds or on a lawn. Instead of judging the condition of the soil by feel, the sensor provides an accurate reading, so you can adjust watering to the plants' actual needs, avoiding both underwatering and overwatering.

Important information before buying

The WH51 sensor is only an accessory within the Ecowitt ecosystem - to read the moisture on its own you need an additional GW1100 gateway (sold separately), which sends the data to the free Ecowitt app or to the Ecowitt weather server. Without a gateway the sensor alone will not display a reading.

Monitoring features

After connecting to the gateway and configuring Wi-Fi, the sensor measures soil moisture in a cycle of about 72 seconds and transmits data wirelessly. The Ecowitt app lets you view current values live, and the Ecowitt weather server lets you track measurement history on charts and download archived records. You can also set up an e-mail alert that reminds you to water the plant when the moisture level drops below a set threshold.

One GW1100 gateway supports up to 8 WH51 sensors at the same time, so you can monitor many locations in the garden or at home in parallel - for example different beds, pots or lawn zones. The sensor has an IP66 protection rating, so it is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use throughout the season.
