Shimano PD-R550 SPD-SL – Road Clipless Pedals, Black

Shimano PD-R550 SPD-SL – clipless pedals

Clipless pedals are a solution that provides a fixed connection between the cycling shoe and the pedal by means of cleats, which results in better power transfer from the leg to the bike's drivetrain. The Shimano PD-R550 model belongs to the SPD-SL system, intended for road bikes.

Construction

The pedal body is made of carbon fiber reinforced composite, which provides low weight while maintaining adequate stiffness. The very wide pedal platform increases the contact area with the shoe, improving the efficiency of power transfer while pedaling. The stainless steel plate in the pedal body limits flexing and wear of the body over its service life.

Clip-in mechanism

The pedal has adjustable retention tension, which lets you match the force needed to clip in and out of the shoe to individual preferences and the rider's level of experience. The wide spacing of the bearings inside the pedal ensures a stable and even load distribution.

Use

The pedals are intended for road bikes and require shoes compatible with the SPD-SL system and the appropriate cleats (sold separately), which are attached to the sole of the cycling shoe.
