Pierburg 7.29023.04.0 - Brake System Vacuum Pump
The vacuum pump from the German brand Pierburg generates the vacuum needed for proper operation of the brake booster (vacuum servo). It is a particularly important component in diesel engines, which - unlike petrol engines - do not generate sufficient vacuum in the intake manifold and therefore require a separate vacuum pump.
How it works
The pump is driven mechanically, most often from the engine's camshaft or crankshaft, and generates vacuum delivered to the brake booster reservoir. Without a working pump, the force required on the brake pedal rises sharply, which directly affects driving safety.
Symptoms of a faulty pump
- A hard, heavy brake pedal requiring great pressing force
- Longer braking distance
- A characteristic noise (rumbling, grinding) coming from the area of the pump
- Brake system warning light on the dashboard
Technical specification
Angled model, two connections, supplied with a gasket, designed for diesel engines, right-side mounting. Made in line with Pierburg's many years of experience in producing fuel system and emission reduction components.
Installation
Replacement requires removing the pump from the engine block, replacing the gasket and connecting the vacuum lines - recommended to be done in a car workshop because of its direct impact on the brake system.
