Garmin GT15M-TM – CHIRP fish finder transducer for transom mounting
The GT15M-TM is a Garmin fish finder transducer, that is, an underwater transmitter/receiver that passes the signal to a compatible fish finder or chartplotter. Its job is to provide an image of the bottom and objects beneath the boat's hull.
CHIRP technology
The transducer works with CHIRP technology, in a center frequency range of 85 to 165 kHz. Thanks to the wide bandwidth, the bottom image is more detailed and fish arches are better separated from each other than with a classic single-frequency fish finder.
Power and range
The transducer's rated power is 600 W. The design maintains good readability and echo separation down to a depth of 579 m, which is enough for both lakes and most coastal fishing grounds.
Installation
The GT15M-TM is designed for transom mounting, that is, on the rear wall of the hull – one of the most commonly chosen ways of installing transducers on recreational and fishing boats. The housing is made of plastic, and the connection to the fish finder is made through an 8-pin connector. The manufacturer recommends following the included installation manual closely so as not to damage the boat hull.
