Garmin Airmar B265LH – 1 kW CHIRP transducer for thru-hull mounting

The B265LH is an Airmar fishfinder transducer in a version prepared for Garmin devices, terminated with a 12-pin connector. It has a massive bronze housing for mounting through the hull and is rated for 1 kW of power. It is a solution mainly for larger vessels that head out to deep water and need long range and a clear picture of the bottom.

Two CHIRP bands

The letters LH in the name mean operation in two CHIRP ranges – low and high. Low frequencies reach deeper and cover a larger area, while high frequencies show more detail, such as individual fish right at the bottom. As a result, the transducer handles great depths well while also clearly showing the shape of the bottom and objects in the water column.

Installation and compatibility

• thru-hull mounting requires drilling a hole in the hull – it is worth having the installation done by an experienced yacht service,
• the bronze housing is intended for fiberglass or wooden hulls; for metal hulls, transducers in other housings are used,
• the 12-pin connector fits Garmin chartplotters and sonar modules that support traditional 1 kW CHIRP sonar – check your device's compatibility before buying.
