Garmin GT30-TH - SideVü side imaging transducer
Sharp image of the sides of the boat
The GT30-TH is a Garmin thru-hull fishfinder transducer designed for side imaging, which shows clear outlines of objects, bottom structure and fish located to the sides of the boat, not just directly under the hull. It is made of stainless steel and has a 12-pin mounting stem. This solution makes it easier to spot structures away from the boat's line of travel, such as sunken branches or patches of vegetation.
16-degree tilt
The version with a 16-degree tilt is intended for hulls where the mounting location has a suitable deadrise angle - this way the sonar beam sits as vertically as possible relative to the bottom, instead of aiming at an angle resulting from the slope of the hull.
Use
Side imaging works well for finding schools of fish in a wide band of water around the boat, not just in the narrow cone directly beneath it, which is especially useful for trolling and combing larger bodies of water.
