Garmin GPSMAP 722xs Plus – compact chartplotter with fishfinder

The GPSMAP 722xs Plus combines a navigation chartplotter and a fishfinder in a single housing with a 7-inch touchscreen. The bright screen stays readable in full sun, and improved map drawing allows smooth panning and zooming. The unit comes with a built-in world basemap, and detailed marine charts can be purchased separately.

Sonar and imaging

• traditional CHIRP sonar with up to 1 kW of power,
• ClearVü scanning, clearly showing the structure and objects beneath the boat,
• option to connect Panoptix sonar, including LiveScope, which shows fish movement live.

A transducer is not included – it must be chosen to suit the hull and the chosen type of sonar.

The hub of the onboard system

Over the Garmin Marine Network, the chartplotter shares charts, user waypoints, radar images and IP camera video with other displays on board. NMEA 2000 and NMEA 0183 connections let you add an autopilot, digital switching, an AIS receiver, a VHF radio, weather data or an audio system. J1939 support makes it easy to read engine data, e.g. from Yamaha engines, and the OneHelm feature lets you control compatible devices from other manufacturers, such as EmpirBus digital switching, from the chartplotter screen. Thanks to ANT connectivity, the chartplotter works with Garmin marine watches, wireless remotes and sensors.

For sailors

The built-in SailAssist package supports sailing and racing: it plots tacking lines (laylines), offers racing features such as a start line assistant, shows set and drift, and provides wind data.
