Monte Nativo organic coconut oil comes from Sri Lanka. It is a cold-pressed coconut oil from the first pressing of fresh coconuts, in raw quality. It is an unrefined coconut oil, odorless according to the manufacturer, free of gluten, lactose and trans fats, with no added preservatives or additives. The one-liter bottle lasts for many months of daily cooking, and an everyday coconut oil of this quality is worth having in every pantry.

Use in the kitchen

It is a versatile frying oil, for baking and stewing. It tolerates high temperatures well, so it is suitable for a wok and a frying pan, and in cakes, granola and vegan desserts it replaces butter. It can also be added to coffee, smoothies or porridge. It contains up to 53 percent lauric acid, characteristic of coconut oil.

Beyond the kitchen

The manufacturer indicates that the oil can be used externally as a natural skin and hair care product, for example as a body lotion or a pre-wash mask. At lower temperatures the oil solidifies and has a creamy consistency, and after gentle warming it becomes liquid.
