Garmin eTrex Touch – handheld hiking GPS, 3-inch touchscreen

Garmin eTrex Touch – handheld hiking GPS

The eTrex Touch is a lightweight handheld GPS device. The touchscreen is 3 inches diagonally, in color and high resolution, so it stays readable even in full sun. The receiver supports multi-band GPS, which improves positioning accuracy in difficult terrain, such as narrow valleys or under tree cover.

Maps and route planning

The device comes preloaded with detailed road and trail maps, including terrain contours, elevations, peaks, parks, shorelines and points of interest. Popularity routing suggests frequently chosen paths, and the round-trip option lets you plan a loop of a set length that leads back to the starting point. For an extra fee, an Outdoor Maps+ subscription is available with additional premium maps to download over Wi-Fi.

Battery and durability

The battery lasts up to 130 hours with full multi-band GPS reception using SatIQ technology, and up to 650 hours in expedition mode. Charging is done through a standard USB-C cable. The housing has an IP67 water resistance rating, so the device can be used in rain and wet terrain.

App and memory

The device works with the Garmin Explore app on a smartphone or tablet, which lets you plan routes, manage waypoints and review data from your trip. The built-in memory has a capacity of 32 GB.
