The Garmin GPSMAP 79s is a rugged, floating and waterproof handheld GPS receiver designed for sailors and anglers. Its 3-inch color display is readable in sunlight and resistant to fogging and scratches, and the device includes a worldwide basemap to help with orientation on water and land.

Navigation and memory

The receiver supports multiple satellite systems at once (GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, Beidou), which means more accurate and faster position fixes. The expanded memory lets you save and track 10,000 waypoints, 250 routes and 300 recorded activities, and storage can be extended with a microSD card.

Additional sensors

The built-in 3-axis electronic compass shows direction even when you are standing still, and the barometric altimeter tracks changes in pressure and elevation. The battery lasts up to 20 hours in GPS mode, and the design makes the device float if it falls overboard.
