The Garmin inReach Mini 2 is a small and lightweight orange satellite communicator intended for people heading to places without cellular coverage. The device enables two-way text messaging and triggering an interactive SOS from almost anywhere in the world, provided there is an active satellite subscription.

Navigation and safety

The built-in digital compass gives an accurate heading even when the user is standing still, and the TracBack routing function leads you back to the point where the hike started, along exactly the same path. Your location can be shared with loved ones in real time via the MapShare page or directly in the message you send.

App integration and battery

Once paired with a smartphone via Bluetooth, the device syncs with the Garmin Explore app, where you can plan routes, view topographic maps and create waypoints to load onto the communicator. The battery lasts up to 14 days in 10-minute tracking mode, which works well on multi-day expeditions.
