Garmin inReach Mini 2 - GPS satellite communicator, black

Garmin inReach Mini 2 - GPS satellite communicator

The inReach Mini 2 is a small handheld device that combines a GPS receiver with satellite communication, designed for people heading to places without cellular coverage - mountains, forest or the water. The compact black body houses a small 1.27-inch display, and the whole unit is operated with buttons, without a touchscreen.

Satellite communication and SOS

The device enables two-way text messaging over the satellite network when your phone loses coverage. In an emergency, an SOS function is available that sends a signal to a 24/7 emergency response coordination center - using messaging and SOS requires an active satellite service subscription. The built-in digital compass shows direction even when you are standing still, and the TracBack function lets you return exactly along the route you came by.

Working with a smartphone

After pairing with the Garmin Explore app on a smartphone, you can write messages more comfortably, plan routes and view topographic maps on the larger phone screen, and sync created waypoints and courses with the device. The communicator also connects to Garmin watches and other devices, allowing messages and SOS to be sent directly from your wrist.

Battery and kit

The battery is enough for long expeditions - in 10-minute tracking mode it runs for many days without charging. The set includes a USB charging cable and a carabiner that makes it easy to clip the device to a backpack.
